News analyzed and compared a variety of publicly available data, including internet search data, to determine which washers Americans are most interested in. Detergent dispenser: Companies have started adding a variety of built-in detergent dispensers to their washers.Smart features: Some smart features include the ability to control your washer from your phone or smart speaker, troubleshoot the appliance, and check on the status of your laundry.Wi-Fi: The addition of Wi-Fi connectivity to a washer expands its functionality to include a variety of smart features.All of the washers in our ratings have that designation. High-efficiency: A high-efficiency designation means that a washer is more energy- and water-efficient than a traditional top-load washer.This gives you the option of mounting the door to swing open to the left or right. Reversible door: Some front-load washers have a reversible door.Drum material: All of the washers in our ratings have sturdy, stainless steel drums, which is what you want to look for.Other finishes can add $100 or more to the price of your washer.
